Where to Dance - 4 Week Anniversary Update

Hi everyone!

I'm thrilled to share the progress we've made with "Where to Dance" since its official launch four weeks ago. It's been an incredible journey, and I want to give you a glimpse of what we've achieved and what's on the horizon.

Achievements So Far:

  • Dance Categories: We've introduced over 25 major dance categories, encompassing 182 different styles/subsets. Each category is meticulously detailed, providing a deep understanding of each dance form.

  • Portal Pages: For all major categories and styles/subsets, we've created dedicated portal pages, making navigation and exploration seamless.

  • Blog and Workflow Integration: Our blog component is now integrated with the dance categories. We've also streamlined the workflow system, enhancing the efficiency of content publication by our contributors.

  • Registration System Overhaul: We've stabilized and fixed numerous bugs in our registration system and other core components.

  • Content Creation: A substantial amount of content has been generated for many dance categories.

  • Social Media & Live Video Channels: Our social media channels are up and running. Additionally, we've launched live video channels for selected categories, enriching the content we offer.

Celebrating Our Early Achievements:

As we mark the 4-week anniversary of "Where to Dance," I want to highlight the organic growth we've achieved in such a short time. In just four weeks, without the aid of paid media or advertisements, our platform has begun to resonate with the dance community. This is a testament to the demand for a service like ours and the natural appeal of our content and mission.

  • Impressive Traffic: With daily visits ranging from 500 to 1600 globally and about 300 in the US, these numbers are particularly remarkable considering they've been achieved solely through organic growth(these number reflected are excluding bot traffic).

  • Engagement Success: Our engagement rates of 51.69% for organic search and 67.24% for organic social reflect the strong interest and relevance of our platform to our audience.

This early success is a clear indication of the potential of "Where to Dance." It's exciting to think about what we can achieve as we continue to grow and start incorporating more strategic marketing efforts.

These numbers indicate incredible potential for our platform, and we're just getting started!

Hi, I'm Samuel Newton, one of the founders of Where to Dance. Our journey in Nashville over the past 10 years has been incredible, and now we're excited to expand "Where to Dance" to a national, and eventually, an international audience. Let me share my personal story and explain how "Where to Dance" can benefit both established dance leaders and newcomers.

My Personal Dance Journey:

Until I was 27, dancing was a world unknown to me. Working in TV and film production in Los Angeles, I was far removed from the dance scene. It wasn't until I found myself in Dallas, Texas, seeking to connect in an unfamiliar city, that I stumbled upon the world of dance. My search for local dance events was a mix of hits and misses, often ending in frustration. I nearly gave up before discovering the joy of dance.

This experience made me realize two things: the hidden gems of the dance world often remain elusive to outsiders, and outdated or incorrect event information can be a major barrier to entry. It was the spark that led to the creation of WhereToDanceNashville.com with Sarah Hamilton, a skilled dance teacher. Over a decade later, we're now bringing "Where to Dance" to a broader audience.

Empowering the Dance Community:

Our primary goal at "Where to Dance" is to empower everyone in the dance community through knowledge. Many people are unaware of the dance world's intricacies, and high entry barriers can deter potential enthusiasts. Our platform aims to demystify dance, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date, which is vital for new dancers who may not have the patience for repeated missteps.

Connecting Dancers and Teachers:

Any dance teacher or studio will tell you they want more students and engagement. The challenge is reaching the right audience. "Where to Dance" addresses this need by connecting people interested in dance with those who can guide them. We're a bridge to new opportunities and experiences in the dance world.

Revealing the 'Secret Dances':

One fascinating aspect I discovered was the existence of 'secret dances' - events known mostly through word of mouth. Contrary to what some might think, these aren't exclusive by design. Organizers and promoters want more attendees; they just lack the means to reach a wider audience. "Where to Dance" is committed to making these hidden gems accessible to all.

Looking Forward:

As we continue to grow, our focus remains on making dance more accessible and inclusive. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or someone just dipping their toes into this world, "Where to Dance" is here to guide you. Stay tuned as we roll out more features and bring the joy of dance to an ever-growing community.

Our Goals:

  • Empower Existing Dancers/Teachers/Studios/Promoters/Organizations/Schools: Providing tools to make the dance community more inclusive and informative.
  • New Dancers: Lowering entry barriers for newcomers by providing accurate and timely information.

Upcoming Features:

  • Dance Teacher Listings & Beta Program: Launching soon, with an offer of 100 lifetime memberships for teachers on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • Profiles & Events: We'll be introducing profiles for dance studios, organizations, and event promoters, followed by a comprehensive events section.
  • User Profiles & Mobile App: An enhanced user profile system and a revamped mobile app are on their way.

Join Us:

We're excited about our journey so far and what lies ahead in 2024. If you're passionate about dance and want to contribute or support our efforts, please reach out via our contact form or sign up to become a contributor (Login Required).

Conclusion:

"Where to Dance" is more than a platform; it's a community, a movement, a revolution in the dance world. With every step we take, we're bringing the dance community closer, making it more vibrant and accessible.

Thank you for your continued support. Let's look forward to a future where everyone can dance!

Samuel Newton

Co-founder of WhereToDance

Samuel Newton has gracefully moved to the rhythms of Salsa, Bachata, Swing, and Ballroom, cherishing every step and turn. His love for dance extends beyond the dance floor – it's in the laughter shared during a dance lesson, the applause after a performance, and the connections made in a dance hall.

Recognizing the vibrancy and potential of the dance community, Samuel, along with Sarah Hamilton, co-founded both WhereToDanceNashville.com and WhereToDance. Their vision was simple yet profound: to cultivate a platform where dancers, both novices and veterans, could connect, learn, and grow. Samuel's dedication is not just about mastering dance steps; it's about fostering a community where every dancer feels at home.

When he's not dancing or working on Where To Dance, Samuel can be found attending dance events, immersing himself in the ever-evolving world of dance, and continuously seeking avenues to help the dance community flourish.
